It is recommended that each time a lamp is replaced, the sleeve should be removed and cleaned before installing the new lamp. Wear latex gloves (or equivalent) to avoid oils from contacting the lamp, oils (fingerprints) will create hot spots on the lamp and will reduce efficiency.
